When Lamington founder Sarah Teensma's daughters were young, she shared a frustration familiar to most parents, socks that simply wouldn't stay up on active little legs. Already running her own kids' t-shirt business, Sarah spotted an opportunity to design socks exactly the way she wanted them for her own children. In 2008 she added socks as an extra for retailers, and when stores started asking for socks only, she knew she'd found her niche. Nearly two decades on, Lamington has built a global reputation for beautifully made merino socks and tights, still knitted right here in New Zealand. The range has expanded from babies and kids through to women's and men's, thanks to mums (and later, Sarah's husband) loving them as much as the little ones. Supported by a tight-knit team of three, Sarah's original vision lives on: creating a thoughtfully designed boutique range of top-drawer socks through sustainable products and practices.
